Estação Vida’s Solar Energy Credits Could Power the Center for 10 Months

At Uberlândia Development Initiatives (UDI), we’re always inspired by the resilience and innovation of our partners on the ground—especially Estação Vida, the community center at the heart of our mission.

Recently, we learned that Estação Vida has accumulated an impressive 6.3 megawatt-hours (MWh) of energy credit with CEMIG, the local electric utility. That’s enough stored energy to keep the center running for approximately 10 months, even if the solar panels were shut off today.

This credit comes from Estação Vida’s own solar energy systems—Usina APsystems and Usina Enphase—which have been generating more electricity than the center consumes. The surplus has been banked, giving the center a financial and operational cushion that reflects its long-term sustainability efforts.

While UDI didn’t fund these solar installations, we celebrate this success as a major win for the community. It demonstrates how thoughtful infrastructure investments can reduce costs, protect services, and build resilience—values we strive to support through our own work.

We’re proud to partner with Estação Vida and will continue supporting projects that create opportunity, safety, and sustainability for the youth and families of Uberlândia’s Shopping Park neighborhood.
