The Story of Shopping Park Neighborhood and Estação Vida in Uberlândia, Brazil

The Shopping Park neighborhood in Uberlândia, Brazil, began to be divided into lots in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Initially lacking basic infrastructure, such as sewage, water, electricity, and asphalt networks, it was an undervalued area, and its first residents faced great challenges in accessing services like shopping, post offices, and banks, as there were no bus lines passing through the area.

However, from the 2000s, the neighborhood began to experience urban development and growth, and several developments, including universities, closed horizontal condominiums, and a shopping center, were installed in the area. Part of Shopping Park was also delimited as a special area of social interest for the implementation of the Federal Housing Program “Minha Casa, Minha Vida.”

In the midst of this change, Projetos Sociais Estação Vida emerged as a social institution dedicated to the development of children and young people aged 6 to 16, who are in a situation of social vulnerability in the Shopping Park neighborhood. Operating after school hours, the institution provides daily essential meals and conducts workshops that emphasize social and environmental values. The workshops serve as powerful tools to promote values such as respect for diversity, social inclusion, companionship, cordiality, empathy, solidarity, responsibility, leadership, and teamwork.

The success of Estação Vida's mission is due to the dedication of its team of employees and volunteers, who bring both seriousness and affection to their work. Together, they aim to create a better future and make a positive difference in the environment in which they live, by planting love and sowing fruits that enrich the lives of those who pass through the institution.
