November 2020 Update | UDI Brazil

As we are about to enter into the final month of 2020, I (Adam Gonnerman) thought a quick update would be in order.

In fact, there isn't a great deal to share at the moment. For Uberlândia Development Initiatives this remains a time of waiting, as the IRS has not yet responded to our application for non-profit status. Presumably they have a lot to deal with, and it's understood that it can take a few months to receive a response in this situation. While that continues to be the case we are holding off on opening a bank account and taking donations. We want everything to be in order, with ever 'i' dotted and 't' crossed. That's how we always intend to operate going forward.

Our partner NGO in Uberlandia, Estação Vida, has been carrying out limited activities over this year due to COVID-19. It's troublesome to think of so many children missing out on such a good thing, but it's for their safety and that of the community that precautions have to be taken, which include canceling core programming. At the same time, there are still some activities that children go to the community center for, like Jiu Jitzu, and there was also a socially distanced celebration of Children's Day in June. The gif featured here includes scenes from that day, and the video below was made on Black Awareness Day in November. Be sure to follow the community center's Instagram

Speaking of social media, UDI does have a Twitter account, although for the time being we're using it sporadically. It would be great to have more followers there, as when things pick up when some semblance of normalcy returns we'll have a lot more to talk about.

Thank you for your interest in what we are seeking to do.
